You can upload it in CTRL > Firmware/lock key > Key > Unlock gateway menu. It can be done remotely.

How many simultaneous calls can I make?

VBL has 4 GSM modules. You can make up to 4 calls at one time.

The SIM card cannot log into the GSM network. Where is the problem?

There could be several reasons:

  • check if the SIM card is active (not blocked by the GSM operator). You can use your mobile phone
  • examine if the PIN on SIM card is disabled. If not then the same value has to be set in PROG > System parameters > PIN field. This code has to be the same on all the SIM cards in VBL
  • check the GSM signal level. The recommended minimum value is more than -80 dBm. If it is less then change the antenna position
  • the GSM cell could be overloaded because of heavy traffic. You can try to put the antenna into different position.

I am going to use VBL with Cisco Call Manager or Call Manager Express. What are the settings for CCM or CME?

Please visit our webpage http://www.2n.cz/case_studies/case_studies.html where are articles How to set up 2N gateways with CCM and CME .

I call my mobile number (e.g 737XXXXXX) and nothing happens. What is wrong?

First follow the steps below:

  • put an active SIM card in SIM holder 1.
  • in GSM > Network list 1 > Table of prefixes set the 737/9 (737 as prefix and 9 as number of digits)
  • in PROG > GSM outgoing groups > GSM group 1 set CLIR = Factory
  • in GSM > Assignment to GSM groups assign GSM group 1 to all modules
  • create one row in LCR table (ADD button) with parameters

       a. Network list = Network list 1
       b. GSM groups = GSM group 1
       c. Time limitation of use = From 00:00 To 24:00

  • 6. make a test call

If it is still not successful, please make a trace of a call and send it along with the config file to techsupport@2n.cz.

How can I make a call trace?

There are two ways how to do it:

  • From VBL configuration program

    a. go to CTRL > Tracing menu item
    b. choose the file destination where the trace will be saved
    c. select tracing > VoIP and GSM messages
    d. tick checkboxes Timestamp for each message and LCR routing and SIM select

    b. choose Capture text to file from the menu and specify the destination
    c. type at%s92=31
    d. type at!r2
    e. make a test call
    f. press arbitrary button to stop tracing

What protocols does VBL support?

VBL supports SIP protocol only.

My VBL must be registered in my SIP proxy but I can not make it register.

Go to the PROG > Ethernet parameters menu item. Check if the fields ‘Registration expires', ‘Reattempt registration', ‘SIP proxy' and ‘SIP registrar' are filled properly.

My VBL is still trying to register but I would like to use trusted SIP trunk for communication.

Fields ‘Registration expires' and ‘Registration reattempt' must be both set to 0 s.
